Performance at Thailand Ukulele Festival February 2012

Yes! It is confirmed. I got a 15 minutes slot at Thailand Ukulele Festival 2012. =DDDD

The event is happening on the 25th and 26th of February.

Really looking forward to playing at the festival, and meeting all the Thailand ukulele artistes such as Apple Show, Singto Numchok, Ribbee etc etc. Of course, not to forget the international artistes!!! (I think James Hill, Kimo Hussey, Aldrine Guerrero, Kalei Gamiao will be there.)

Songs to play?

Currently I’ve been working on my own arrangements of some covers.
1) The Beatles – Here Comes The Sun
2) Deep Purple – Smoke on The Water
3) Tears for Fears – Everybody Wants to Rule the World

Still thinking of what else to play..

Dominator’s Spruce Top Tenor Ukulele

Hi folks,

Been rather busy with other activities recently. So I apologize for not posting up any playing/listening/tabbed material on ukulabu.com. However, I did do my usual YouTube surfing, and I found out that Mr Dominator has completed his Spruce Top Tenor ukulele, for his coming stage performance for 7th Annual Ukulele Festival in Southern California! Well done Dominator! Let’s give him a round of applause~

Check out his video below:

It sounds really great. Dominator has been making many quite a number of ukuleles for others and himself. I’d love to meet him to look at those ukuleles! For those of you who don’t know who Dominator is, check him out by looking through his tabs library here.

Young Ukulele Virtuosos

I came across some young ukulele players while surfing around YouTube for ukulele players, and these 2 young players are definitely worth watching.

First up is young Ryan Imamura. He has also jammed with Jake Shimabukuro before. Here he is, playing Jake’s Me and Shirley T.

Next up is Ryo Natoyama. He is playing an improvised version of Jake’s song named Blue Roses Falling. His video had a lower quality sound, which I feel that it just doesn’t do him any justice!

Both are already playing at professional level! I really hope they make a name for themselves soon. The world needs such talent!

Ryan and Ryo, all the best to the both of you!

James Hill – One Note Samba

I was surfing around YouTube for the usual ukulele video watching, and I came across this nice video of James Hill playing a song named “One Note Samba”.

A very good performance by James, so I thought I’d share it with you all. Take some time to watch it below:

ICHIGO ICHIE LIVE 2007

I was surfing YouTube the few days back and I stumbled across a Japanese guy with the nickname artkazu8, who has various musicians’ live performance videos in his upload list. And Jake was one of them!

The concert name was ジェイク シマブクロ /一期一会 ICHIGO ICHIE LIVE 2007. This is after quite some time, whereby I have seen Jake play life with a full band behind him.

I could recognise a few songs, such as First Love by Utada Hikaru and サボテ ンの花 (I first saw him play this song on a Japanese live morning show on YouTube).

Take some time to watch the videos of the concert below. (Thanks artkazu8~!)
