Hey, I’m just starting out and would like to know if there is a place in KL where I can buy/find tenor ukuleles.
Another piece of advice I would really like you guys to help out with.. I know sound and wood is paramount but how much should i set aside for a good one without the need to upgrade in the future.
Any advice is much appreciated
dylan Says:
Hi, I’m from Sarawak and I play the uke. I’m still on the hunt for other uke players here. It’s a lonely world out there.
jimmy Says:
alan,
let’s use “uke chat”…
jimmy Says:
no alan, i don’t. do you know any ukulele players from KL?
you might be aware, i am new to ukulele. i just bought one unit and it’s on the way.
Jimmy,
You have other friends who are interested in the ukulele?
jimmy Says:
alan,
that is sad to know.
i hope that there will be a uke community here in KL in the very near future.
Hi Jimmy,
Sorry, I don’t know of any big ukulele community, neither have I jammed along with fellow ukulele players in Malaysia…
I myself have been busy with work, and have not been working in KL for quite a while.
Try to get some time off and come to Singapore to meet the folks there. They’ll be happy to jam with ya~
jimmy Says:
hi alan,
is there a big uke community in malaysia?
are you guys have regular meet-ups or jam session?
Hey Sarah,
I saw your video, and went through your other videos as well. You’ve got quite a number of videos huh? Really good job, considering you’ve been only into uke for 2 months.
Keep it up!
celine Says:
no problem, good luck with your first uke hunt!
jimmy Says:
thanks celine… i hope to get a uke soon.
celine Says:
hey jimmy,
no you’re right, full solid is better than laminate.. and yep action can be adjusted but personally i think it takes some precise work and risks, or money if you send it to a luthier.
i haven’t tried their luthier models, but they definitely LOOK good. and actually it’s great that you have a higher budget! im not sure how this thread on fb could help but if you’re interested: http://www.facebook.com/home.php#/topic.php?uid=40087829099&topic=5900. maybe it could help you choose your ideal uke
i think glyn and simon are still busy tying up loose ends and stuff? the new ukes are already with them, and we got to see a few at the concert a few days ago. i guess you’ll have better luck making an appointment with them instead of the web updates.
cheers!
jimmy Says:
>>anyway, i still think it’s worth going over to ukulele movement to try out all the ukes to see which feels and plays the best in your hands. that’s most important. and they have other brands now apart from kala - more choices!>>
yes celine, i heard that UM is bringing in other brands; but sadly, they have not updated their website/ prices. i would really like to compare the ohana and kala solid mahoganys.
cheers.
jimmy Says:
hi celine,
thanks for the feedback.
i am not sure… but i do have the understanding that full solid has better tonal quality and better sustain as compare to the laminated ones. but then again, i might be wrong. i think you can do something about the action tho’…
frankly, i do have a better budget and i am looking forward to see some of the maestro luthier models… have you tried them out?
looking forward to hear from you again.
thanks.
celine Says:
hey jimmy,
i got a maestro us-20, which is full solid and imo it’s quite decent and sounds great for its price. i’m not sure about their laminate ones though.
however, i do think that the kala ukes are slightly more well-made and the action is lower than maestro’s. they also come with aquila strings already so you don’t have to change them in the beginning. the strings on maestro’s are not so ideal.
if you compare maestro us20 with kala KA-S, the former is 169 while the latter is 159. strings are about 12. so if your budget is around there, and you’re looking for best deal (price-wise), KA-S is actually a good deal! LOL
anyway, i still think it’s worth going over to ukulele movement to try out all the ukes to see which feels and plays the best in your hands. that’s most important. and they have other brands now apart from kala - more choices! (:
jimmy Says:
alan or anyone,
do you know if the kala ukes are played better than the maestro ukes?
seems like the maestro are quite well priced
…
Hi Tomz
I’ve been staying in KL, and I haven’t found a place which sells decent ukuleles as yet. In fact, within KL, I can’t find a place which sells ukuleles. I think you will have better luck purchasing them online~
Greetings,
I’m from Malaysia and I’m very keen to start the ukulele. Was hoping to look for a budget tenor ukulele, any Malaysian out there able to help on which store should visit? I’m from Petaling Jaya. All replies are very much appreciated, Cheers.
Hi Teong Hoon: Thanks for dropping by http://www.ukulabu.com. I have posted another post for the 3rd meeting’s discussion. We can fix a date and time there. You can go there by clicking here.

celine Says:
haha alrighty Kenny. it definitely is living up to its name
Kenny Says:
Celine: from this day henceforth your uke is officially named “Dusty”
celine Says:
hey Alan and Kenny,
haha no the dust isn’t alot such that it’ll drop out of the uke when turned upside down. but thanks for the tip, I’ll try to clear it using your suggestion, else leave it like what you said
ahhhhh yes, Kenny, that’s the word I was looking for - LACQUER. haha I’m so sorry for the mix-up; laminate is not the right word. Hope that clears the air. And thanks for the sharing there. It also looks like the patch of lacquer is standard procedure? http://kepasaukulele.com/building-pages/nipper.htm & http://kepasaukulele.com/building-pages/little-mac.htm
Kenny Says:
Celine, congrats on your new acquisition. Practice hard. Practice often. Most of all, hope you have a lot of fun now that you are a proud owner of a uke.
Just a clarification; the patch you mentioned cannot be defined as laminate, from your description it sounds like excess lacquer spilling onto wood. it does no harm. In fact there are some luthiers who lacquer the insides of their instruments. This is supposedly to prevent moisture from damping the wood. When this happens, it is often referred to as the instrument being “wet”. You can understand how our high humidity affects wood instruments. But thats another story.
As for solid woods and laminates, the difference is as the names suggest. Laminates are two or more thin sheets (plys) of wood adhered to form a piece of plank (remember plywood?). This is also sometimes called veneer. Depending on the instrument in question, laminates are often considered inferior to solid woods. Some argue that the back and sides make no difference if it is solid or laminates. But all agree that the top should always be solid. The tops are also refered to as tonewoods. Solid tops will mature with time and the extent of the use of the instrument. The laminates on he other hand, will not mature to the same degree, if at all, as the solids. When this happens, it is fondly referred to as “breaking” into an instrument.
Some stringed istruments are typically built with laminate back and sides. A good example are arch-top guitars, preferred by most jazz guitarists. Even then these always have solid tops.
Enough said. You may want to research a bit to substantiate the above or to knock it down, in which case I would learned a little bit more.
Celine: The back of your ukulele not being flat is normal. My Kamaka is slightly bulged behind as well. It should be a different style make of the ukulele.
As for the dusty sound hole, if you really want to clean it, what I would do is use a small hand held vacuum cleaner with attached pipe to insert into the small hole and suck out all that dust. On the other hand, I would ignore it, if the dust doesn’t get in the way (EG: fall out then the uke is turned upside down).
Hope the tips above helps….
celine Says:
hey guys,
you know what. I just got my ukulele today.. Sorry Wongyy, for not informing you beforehand - it was quite a last minute decision cos I was around the area.
And yes you’re right Kenny - solid definitely sounds better than laminate but it’s a difference of about a hundred over bucks here.
Anyway, I got the full solid soprano one eventually haha, because I was told the next shipment for laminates is another few months. gah not going to wait anymore. But I have to say I’m very pleased with what I got although I’m $170 poorer!
Hmmmm, I’ve got a few questions though. The inside of the sound hole looks really dusty, how can I clear it other than when I’m changing strings? Oh and, the inside surface (of the back of uke, seen from sound hole) has an area where it’s darker than the surrounding, I’m guessing that’s the laminate that maybe got onto it by accident or something. But I would like to know if it has affected the uke cos the back of the uke is not exactly flat.. ?
Sorry for the long post! Hope everyone’s doing fine yeah, and in the meantime, I’ll be learning to play the uke!
Hi Shasha,
Welcome to the site!
Anyone from all over the world are welcome here!
Really sweet of you to play that song for your mother~
As for the song’s chords, I have roughly tried to figure it out for you…
I’ll give you fret numbers for the chords (so a C chord is 0003)… First number being the G note string, assuming your ukulele is tuned GCEA..
It starts with a C5 (0022) [rasa sayang],
then a F with C note (2013) [eh, rasa],
then C5 (0022) [sayang sayang eh, eh],
F (2010) [lihat nona]
C5 (0033) [jauh, rasa],
G (0232) [sayang, sayang]
C5 (0022) [eh]…
I think the song repeats the chords throughout… kinda forgot the song already. Hope the chords have been of help to you.
Have fun~
Hey, us uke players from Brunei feel so left out! There’s a community for Malaysians and Singaporeans but no Bruneians
Anyway, glad to know that there’s a uke site for us here in the region!
Keep it up!
p/s: anyone have the chords for Rasa Sayang? ever since i learnt how to play the ukulele, my mum’s been asking me to play it for her, but i’m a little malas to try and figure out the chords fo myself
Wongyy Says:
Today managed to see Maestro open…hahahaha…
wa…lucky havent bought any from maestro yet….almost purchase one of cost S$400+ for concert uke….I like it at first glance and the staff who serve me let me try out all which is there still my heart goes with the one i set eyes on initially…
I like it but I shall wait expert (Mr. Kenny) to tag along and also to do some budgeting before investing in one.
Celine, inform me when we can meet so we can all “march” into the shop for Uke … hahaha….BTW, the 2 nos that i have are soprano ukulele ….
Kenny Says:
Celine, I know a thing or 2 about ukes but certainly no expert at all, not by a long shot. Just wondering, what’s the deal with laminates? If the price differential is minimal, I would suggest getting all solid woods. The ukes at Maestro are decent but you have to watch for the intonation. I’ve tried several of theirs but have not found one that I’m happy with. You may want to check out the one Shermin has. Pretty nice for the price. Anyway, I don’t mind tagging along and offer my 2cts worth if its in the evening, my office is close by at Suntec.
celine Says:
@wongyy:
haha I didn’t know mahalos are worse than I expected them to be.
Basically, most staffs don’t know much about the ukuleles they are selling. Even the ones at Maestro, so no point asking them specific questions (wood/bridge/action/whatever). It’s better to find out yourself. Had an unpleasant misunderstanding with the staffs of Maestro before - made me waste my trip all the way there, really. And didn’t even get a satisfactory explanation but I can only say that it’s because the staff are not familiar with their own ukulele product code!
Hmmm, the stores retail hours are usually 1230 to 1930. And yes I’m from Singapore. But frankly, I haven’t gotten my uke yet hahah oops. so I’m no expert at all; can’t really provide any professional advice.
But before I decide to visit them I’ll need to call and check if their laminate range are in stock first. And that’ll probably be in December after my papers end next week!
I think Kenny is the expert here hahha. (Kenny! maybe I need you to come along to help me pick a uke! hehe)
wongyy Says:
Celine,
I bought the $40 uke instead since my sis sponser me $10 for it…..hahaha
I have the prob of the tuning too initially..but then i used a screw driver to stighten the screw behind and then it turn up ok.
The sound from the unknown brand sold in Sonare sound much better than my beginner Mahalo uke (which i am not satisfied all this while).
And indeed, the staff there is really not that helpful and knowledge of the instrument is rather shallow….when asked if it is a Soprano uke, she can only tell me “This is a ukelele”….. abit turn off but bcos i just wanted a cheap uke spare set, i pay the cash and go.
I went to Maestro twice but when i was there, they either not in operation yet or already close for the day…..but i will want to go down, to try out other type of uke before making any purchase…..
Celin, you from spore? Just wanna see if you wanna meet up with me for a uke store visit at Maestro….
Also, I was thinking if there is any jamming session in the near future….cos really hope to meet some expert to learn some new skill….
celine Says:
haha I stay near Compass Point!
anyway, wongyy you might want to take a look at http://forums.hardwarezone.com.sg/showpost.php?p=32505798&postcount=4
Personally, if you’re going to spend close to $50-$100 for a uke I suggest waiting for Maestro to start production/release of their laminate range, which is soon I think. Oh and the Stagg ukes at Maestro probably sound better than the ones at Sonare, haha just my personal opinion la.
Btw how’s the Sonare one holding up? Last time when I tried it one of the string/tuners looked loose. not sure if it’s spoilt? but surely the staff there don’t handle it very well ):
wongyy: That’s good! You all can meet up easily~ Let me know of any updates ya?
wongyy Says:
HI Alan
Ya, guess what, I have already bought another Uke from the place Kenny suggested. Purpose is for me to bring around and share the joy of playing uke.
However, I am still in search of a better uke (better quality). Will try out tenor before deciding……
As i read your blog, actually found out that I am staying near kenny….
Wongyy: Maybe you can try checking out the place which Kenny recommended. Sonare Music, Compass Point at Sengkang. $35 bucks~ But sopranos are kind of small. I personally like tenor sizes. I suggest you try them out, before deciding…
Good luck~
wongyy Says:
Hi Alan
I dun think i can join you ppl in the jamming cos I got to go to my small group on every fridays. BTW, I still doing chords (simple ones) so not anywhere near Jack’s standard or you guys yet…whahahaha…..
But I am so glad to meet some uke lovers here…..and by any chance maybe we can meet….
For ukulele, my budget is below $100 i guess but slight more than a hundred is ok depends on the sound and quality of the uke.
Tomorrow thinking of gg to Peninsular Plaza to take a look at the Uke selling there with a colleague.
Also, I am just back from Jap. Indeed, there are so many ukulele variety there…excited but dun noe which to buy and came back empty handed. Kind of regret now…..
Wongyy: Hi Wongyy, welcome to ukulabu.com! I personally use a Kamaka tenor ukulele. After trying out several ukuleles made from different woods, I am most satisfied with the sound of Koa wood ukuleles. I bought mine from Japan, as shops in Singapore do not carry Kamakas. It’s kinda pricey.
What is your budget?
By the way, we are having a meet up on 14th November 2008, 7pm at Peninsular Shopping Center. If you can join us, we could discuss more about it. I’m sure Kenny’s got lots of advice for you.
Hope to hear from you soon.
Wongyy Says:
Hi, was searching for ukulele lovers and eventually the search engine leads me to your site. I am a beginner and have a simple uke right now but was not so satisfy with the sound……
Was thinking of buying a more “soild” one. Is there a different between a hardwood wood to those norm ones? Do they sound much better?
Hope to have some professional advise.
Kenny Says:
Tzuann, sounds like you’re making progress on the uke. Unless you harbour aspirations of turning pro, just enjoy your singing & playing. No matter what level you are at now, both are bound to improve given time. I’m sure your time invested would not go to waste. Its been said often enough that you can’t hurry progress. I suppose that’s why practice is so important. I guess what’s more important is to enjoy practicing.
Tzuann: After Singapore, let’s meet up when I get back to KL~
tzuann Says:
hi everyone! yes as alan guessed, been busy with life and slowly giving in to the idea that my singing is so bad, i’m going to have to be the kind that plays and doesn’t sing
;(
also bought woodshed’s how to play uke blues e-book to make me feel better about that.
happy singapore eating drinking and jamming, to all those who will be there!
We have a new visitor to ukulabu.com~! Her name is Jaclyn. She first posted in the ‘Lessons Anyone?‘ post. She is interested in finding a ukulele teacher, and also purchasing an ukulele.
Anyone know of any teachers?
I have volunteered to post lessons for her though… =D
Kenny: Jose Feliciano, he’s godlike with the guitar! I’ve seen some of his videos before on YouTube, and he’s simply amazing. He doesn’t let his blindness affect him at all when he’s playing~
Kenny Says:
Been quiet for a while. Hope its only because coincidently everyone’s busy. Trust everyone’s ok tho.
Attended Jose Feliciano concert at the Durian tonight. Great guitar player. I wish he played the uke too!
Tzuann: No worries~ Just take it one step at a time~ Looking forward to meeting you and strum together soon, after my work clears up…
tzuann Says:
thanks alan. today i was feeling sentimental so i tried out ’somewhere over the rainbow’. but aiyo, just as bad as the fat-bottomed girls. but as you say, i’ll keep strumming and somewhere at the end of the rainbow will be my better sound - and maybe also less busy/stressful times for you
Celine: Yes, I also wish to get to know more people within Singapore and Malaysia who shares the same love for ukulele. That’s why I decided to dedicate some time to ukulabu.com, as a method of collaboration.
Tzuann: Keep on strumming, and you’ll surely get the song down soon! We should try to meet up in KL soon, once my work Overtime blows over. Lots of work at the moment…
Flash chat/video application coming soon! Meanwhile, hang on to your ukes !
tzuann Says:
hi Celine
well you’re almost the only one i know who plays the ukulele haha! and all the ones i know of - i’ve never met them! today was slightly scary - attempted to play the chords for ‘fat-bottomed girls’ and i was really really bad! eww. even tho’ it’s got something like only 4 chords. oh well. the time will come
celine Says:
hey tzuann, the only other person I know that plays the ukulele is Kenny, hhaha not much of a community!
and it’s definitely a great idea to add a tagboard/chat application at the sides, Alan
I wish there’s more people around though..
tzuann Says:
i second Alan’s agreement with Kenny. About there being a battle
i live near 1 utama, work in kl sentral.
too shy right now to make a recording… haven’t even practised since sunday! at risk of waking everyone up at midnight. i try to make up for it by memorising online tips during office lunches but doesn’t do much except to make me realise the work ahead. doesn’t increase the memory in my fingers!
is there a larger singaporean uke community than in malaysia then? i get that feeling…
and anybody bought alistair’s chord progressions e-book yet? at usd17, i’m hoping someone will try it out for me first
Kenny: I totally agree with your quote of ‘liking an instrument is half the battle won’.
Tzuann: I’m in KL too~ I stay in Sunway. Which part of KL do you live?
Everybody: If it’s possible, I’d like to hear you all play~ Record something, and send it to me. We might just have enough to make a mini showcase~
Also, I’m trying to fix up a Flash Chat program here, so we can just meet up online and chat within ukulabu.com!
That’s about it for now. Take care everyone~
Kenny Says:
Hi Tzuann, looks like you got a winner. I think liking an instrument is half the battle won. I use one of those digital tuners too but am told that they are not 100% accurate so I think listening to the instrument is also important. Of course intonation accuracy is probably most important and I’m a stickler when it comes to this. Thanks for introducing Bernunzio. I visited their site last night and what a treasue trove they have! I bet their collection would put some museums to shame.
Finally, yes I’m Singaporean. Keep on strumming.
tzuann Says:
Hi Kenny, hi all,
Thanks for the welcome Kenny! Yes, I like the Cordoba lots. Partly because it’s a beautiful little creature with the design inlay and all. And I’m biased, but it has a lovely timbre. Even with my lousy practising hehe. I had an initial problem tuning it with an electronic tuner, but it’s ok now with relative tuning altho when I sent Alistair Hunt an mp3 he says yup it’s in tune with itself but probably not with others heh. The shop I mentioned, Bernunzio, is great cos they tried to help me out when I said I had a problem, by sending me some Aquila strings in case the original nylon strings warped in the mailing process. So yes, you feel very loved
and reassured. And yes Kenny, I am a KL-ite. You a Singaporean right? I was just there for F1 weekend. Cheerio.
Kenny: Definitely! Thank you all for your support~!
Kenny Says:
Celine: Yes I’m the one who replied you on SOFT. Hope you get your uke soon. Meantime if you need a uke to get your feet wet, I’ll be happy to lend you one of mine. Also can share whatever learning materials I have. You should also check out the Santa Cruz uke at Guitar Gallery. Pricey but don’t pass up the chance to try the instrument.
Tzuann: I also like to add to Alan’s welcome. The Cordobas are pretty nice looking (from pics)and from the original land of the Uke - Portugal. You gotta tell us how you like the uke. BTW you from KL?
Alan: got your note on MSN Messenger. Have’nt subscribed yet but will let you know when I do. Its great to see more folks on board Ukulabu is’nt it?
Tzuann: Thanks for the introduction of the shop!
tzuann Says:
Hi All! Thanks for the welcome, Alan. Yes Bernunzio does ship internationally, that’s how I got mine, through the post. Check out http://www.bernunzio.com, talk to Greg or owner Julie. They sell all sorts of ukes from Bushman to Martin to Flukes, Kiwaya, Kamaka, Gibson… including a Leonardo Nunes too, right now. Now about to go and see some supposedly helpful websites for free tabs… which were listed by Mike Dickison of Kiwi Ukulele…
Celine and Tzuann: Firstly, a warm welcome to ukulabu.com! Thank you for visiting~
Celine: Yes, there are people in Singapore and Malaysia who also share the same likes of playing the ukulele. That’s just great news. I really hope to meet up with you all soon. Meanwhile, take care and keep strumming~
Tzuann: Thanks for the tip on where to buy the ukulele. Though New York’s kinda far, but it’ll be great if you could let us know what brands of ukulele does the shop carry, and if they do international shipping. Thanks again in advanced!
celine Says:
OMGGGGGG. haha sorry im really excited now!
Hello Alan! I found out about Ukulabu on Ukulele Hunt. Your web link’s mentioned here: http://ukulelehunt.com/2008/10/03/bushman-ukulele-video-contest/
I was stunned when I saw that cos the first thing that came to my mind was, why didnt I see this before! I had practically went through millions of google results when I first started to find out more about ukes, but didnt see Ukulabu at all.
Anyway, hey Kenny, you’re fifthnote on SOFT forums aren’t you? I’m the one that pm-ed you
It’s great now that I’ve found this site. At least I know there are souls out there in this region playing the uke.
Keep up the good work, Alan!
ps: @shermin, the boss of Maestro said the laminate ukes will only be back in Nov/Dec
Im waiting for them, so I can compare it with the solid ones.
tzuann Says:
hey there! i just read about your site from the ukehunt newsletter! i’m new to the uke, had my cordoba for about a couple months but don’t have much time to practise. if anyone is looking to buy, i’d recommend the place where i got mine, bernunzio vintage instruments in new york. very friendly service to the point of being caring. had to retrieve it once posted, from the customs near the lcct terminal though! ok, that’s just me popping up to say i exist… thanks!
Hey Kenny,
I’m alright now~ I’m using a high G tuning on my tenor. Thats the only tuning which I use now. I use D’Addario Pro Arte Tenor strings, all nylon. (So far I’ve only seen Maestro Peninsular carry this brand). I don’t really like the 3rd string being wounded, as it tends to sound more twangy than then rest. Also it makes a scratchy sound…
Kenny Says:
So Alan, are you using Low-G on your tenor? what brand? Also what tunning do you favor?
Thanks and hope you’re in the pink now.
Shermin: Good that you like it! Have fun! Looking forward to seeing you all soon as well!
shermin Says:
hah. i went there myself. bought a greg bennett UK-50 at Davis, cause the laminates at masetro were all sold out. the uncle is quite nice, he helped me tuned the uke. im enjoying it already. haha. hope to see you guys soon. and hopefully i got better by then. =D
Hi Shermin,
You should start with simple chords first. Maybe let’s say a C, G, F and C again. Then learn some strumming patterns. You can find ukulele chords off Google’s images search engine!
You going with Kenny? If yes, that’s great to hear. Good luck~!
shermin Says:
hah. i’m gonna go get my uke tmr. >.<
what’s the best way to learn it?
Hi Dana!
A warm welcome to you for visting http://www.ukulabu.com! Let me know if you wanna post some pictures of your new ukulele in the Images Section. Haha~
I do not know of any ukulele happenings as yet. But we can certainly form one among ourselves! You can contact Kenny or Shermin (our newest ukulele-ist).
Unfortunately, I am in Malaysia now, if not, I’d certainly love to meet up with you all!
Keep in touch…
Dana Says:
Hello, just curious if there’s a uke jamming community in Spore n stumbled onto your site… I just bot my colorful ukulele from Maestro last wk n is now a convert! Do keep me inform for any uke happenings in Spore
tks n happy strumming!
Hey Kenny,
Thanks for your support of this site, and FMM as well!
I’ll post some stuff up there soon…
Alan, the other guys at FMM did’nt release their email addresses so I guess the only way is to create a post and hope they read it. In fact, I just listened to the 2 songs you added and again I think you did a great job with them and should post it on FMM bulletin board, thrash cans and all. I enjoyed very much thanks.
Shermin: I hope you find your ukulele soon!
Kenny: Good of you to offer to accompany Shermin to buy an uke! By the way, I saw you are a member on Flea Market Music site. I’ve signed up, but can’t find a way to contact other players in the Player Profile section. Do you know how to do it?
Alan, you are correct on the details at Maestro. Besides their house brand they now stock Stagg ukes at S$50. These are standard, very colourful and great for beginners.
Also Davis at Peninsular carries some beginners’ ukes. The other shops at that area I would not recomend.
Shermin, if you need someone to pick out one for you I’d be willing to do so. I go there often. I also bring my ukes to Guitar Gallery every couple of Saturdays to play with a friend of mine.
Drop me a line if you need to.
Hi Shermin,
Firstly, welcome to ukulabu.com!
There isn’t really a market for ukuleles in Singapore. But you can try looking around Peninsular Shopping Complex at City Hall. There’s a Maestro shop there. While you are there, check out the other shops too. They might have others. Prices between SGD80 - 300, if not mistaken…
I last saw ukuleles of various sizes (standard, concert, tenor and baritone) there. My friend bought the tenor though. I’m not sure if they still keep stock.
Address as follows:
Maestro Concept Store
5 Coleman Street, #B1-30, Excelsior Shopping Center, S(179805)
Opening Hours: Mon - Sat, 12pm - 7:30pm, Sun, 1pm - 6pm.

shermin Says:
hey. I’m from singapore, any ideas where to get a uke here? i want to learn it! ><
I have a KoAloha Concert and a Kamaka Soprano Pineapple.
Look forward to meet you too. Gimme a shout when you’re in the neighbourhood.
Nice~
What ukulele do you play?
FYI, the company which I work currently for, has an office not too far from Holland V. We’re at Ayer Rajah Industrial Estate.
Looking forward to meet up with you soon.
Take care!
I live in Holland Drive, near Holland Village.
Hi Kenny,
Thanks for dropping by..
I am in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia currently.
Which part of Singapore are you in?
Hi, was browsing for things uke and pleasantly stumbled onto your site. Uke players in this region are a rare breed indeed. So its a really wonderful effort on your part to reach out to those who enjoy the uke. Let me be among the first wish you success. You can bet I will be a regular visitor to Ukulabu. BTW I’m from Singapore. And you?
Kenny
